This headstone didnโt have heavy buildup at first glanceโbut as the photos show, there was more beneath the surface. Over time, stones absorb organic growth like lichen, algae, mold, and mildew, especially in shaded or damp areas.
With a gentle, bio-safe solution, we let the stone go through a natural, time-released restorationโno pressure washing, no harsh chemicals, and no damage. Every cleaning follows nationally recognized preservation guidelines to ensure the materials are protected for generations to come.
Timeline:
โข Before: Light weathering, but organic buildup was present deep within the stone.
โข Right After: Immediate improvementโsubtle, not quick or flashy.
โข Three Days Later: The solution kept working, drawing out biological growth from within the pores.
โข One Week Later: A brighter, cleaner finish emerged, naturally and safely.

This headstone for the Shinpaugh family had both surface discoloration and deep biological growth. The process to restore it respectfully took time and care:
Top Left โ Before: Years of exposure left the stone discolored and dulled, with buildup covering the engraving and artwork.
Top Right โ Solution Setting In: Our cleaning solution is beginning to draw out deeper growth. You can also see a white sticky residue on the top left cornerโlikely from an old sticker, adhesive tag, or flower arrangement tape. These residues are common and require extra attention to remove without damaging the stone.
Bottom Left โ During Hand Cleaning: We use soft-bristle brushes and a detailed approach to clean safely and thoroughly, especially around delicate engravings.
Bottom Right โ Final Rinse & Drying: The stone is clean and drying evenly. A slight bronze tint is visible in the recessed areasโthis is normal and caused by light reflecting off damp, porous sections of the granite. This coloring fades naturally as the stone fully dries over the next few days.
This isnโt fast or flashyโitโs preservation done right, with care and respect for the families we serve.

We were proud to honor the Bartley family with this preservation work. Hereโs a look at their loved oneโs stone across four stages of the cleaning process:
Top Left โ Before: Light buildup on the surface, especially in the engraving and artwork.
Top Right โ While the cleaning solution sets in: Our safe, non-abrasive solution begins pulling out years of trapped growth like algae, lichen, and mildew from within the stone.
Bottom Left โ Right After Rinsing: The surface is noticeably cleaner, but the stone is still drying.
Bottom Right โ About 30 Minutes Later: The natural finish begins to show, and the stone will continue improving over the next few days. A slight bronze tint appears in the recessed areas as they dryโthis is normal and caused by the way moisture and light interact with the unpolished portions of the stone. The stone will continue to brighten over the coming days and weeks.
